Welcome to Diabetes Art Day 2013!
New in 2013: In an effort to improve participation and respond to feedback from the community, Diabetes Art Day is now the first Monday in February. Additionally, this year there are two galleries, the 2013 Gallery and the 2013 Children’s Gallery (links are below). This ensures that parents can share and discuss the project with their children without concern for exposing them to images they might find inappropriate for younger viewers.
Image Viewing Disclaimer: Diabetes leads to many complicated and uncomfortable feelings, and one of the primary goals of Diabetes Art Day is to encourage people to express those feelings. There could be art that might be offensive to some viewers or inappropriate for children. I recommend previewing the images without your children prior to sharing the images with them. If images that seem inappropriate for children are posted in the 2013 Children’s Gallery, they will be moved to the 2013 Gallery. I equate censoring artwork with invalidating someone’s experience with diabetes, and this is not in the spirit of Diabetes Art Day. I appreciate your understanding, and welcome questions or feedback regarding this policy.
Uploading Images: I recommend no more than 1000-1500 pixels for the widest dimension of the image. In the ‘Description’ box, enter any of the following: name, title of work, medium, and connection to diabetes
Please post only original artwork created by you or your loved ones. Reproductions of other people’s artwork cannot be accepted.
Image Uploading Problems: If you upload an image, and it is not immediately visible, reduce the size of the image, and upload again. If you continue to have issues, please email the image and accompanying description to Lee Ann.
Ipad Users: You will not be able to upload images with an ipad. Ipads do not have general website image uploading capability. Please upload your image from a different device.
